Common questions
Questions parents typically ask before their first visit
My child doesn't speak at all yet — is it too late to start?
There is no point at which it becomes too late, and earlier support does tend to help skills develop faster. Whatever your child's starting point, our first step is the same for every family: a full assessment to establish exactly where they stand today.
Will I be involved in therapy, or is it drop-off only?
We actively involve parents in sessions. You will also receive home-practice guidance and a monthly video update, so progress is never something that happens without your knowledge.
What's the difference between BRIGHT and a regular special school?
BRIGHT combines licensed schooling — Pre-KG through Class XII, with NIOS registration for the 10th and 12th grades — with clinical therapy such as speech, occupational therapy, ABA, and physiotherapy, delivered under one roof on a single individualized plan.
What age should we start?
Earlier generally gives skills more time to develop, but we assess and design programs across a wide age range, from the early intervention years through school-going children.
How is progress actually measured?
Every child has a written Individualized Education Plan (IEP) with specific goals. We review it with you each month, adjust it as your child develops, and provide video updates between reviews.
What happens at the first visit?
A comprehensive developmental assessment across speech, motor, sensory, cognitive, and behavioral domains, followed by a parent orientation in which we explain the findings and recommend a program. No commitment is required that day.
Is there a cost for the first conversation?
No. A first conversation by WhatsApp or phone carries no cost and no obligation, so you can ask questions and understand what we offer before deciding anything.
How often are therapy sessions held?
Frequency is set in your child's individualized plan based on what the assessment points to — it can vary by discipline and by child, and is one of the things we discuss at the parent orientation.
Can sessions be attended online?
Yes. In-person sessions happen at our Chennai centre, and we also offer sessions online for families across India or based abroad — on the same individualized plan either way.
Is my child's information kept confidential?
Yes. Assessment findings, session records, and your child's individualized plan are handled as confidential information between your family and our team.
What does NIOS registration actually mean?
NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) is a government body that lets students sit for recognized 10th and 12th grade board exams outside a conventional school calendar — useful for students whose pace or needs don't fit a standard classroom track. BRIGHT is registered to carry students through NIOS for these grades.
Do siblings need to be assessed too?
Only if you have a concern about them as well. Each child's assessment and plan are independent — there's no requirement to enroll more than one child.
What happens during school holidays?
Clinical therapy sessions generally continue on a regular basis; schooling follows the academic calendar. Ask your child's team about the specific schedule for any given break.
Can we switch or add therapies later?
Yes — this is exactly what the monthly review is for. If your child's plan needs a different discipline added, or less time in one and more in another, that's adjusted at review rather than requiring you to wait for a new enrollment cycle.
